Dunkirk is a residential area of Nottingham, England which is located to the south east of the University of Nottingham and the Queen's Medical Centre. It is in the electoral ward of 'Dunkirk and Lenton', part of the Nottingham South constituency.
While home to many permanent residents of Nottingham, the area also houses numerous students, including many international students, mainly from East and Southeast Asia. For the pass 2 years many Malaysian student started to move here. The area has become increasingly popular in the last decade due to its proximity to the university. Housing prices in Dunkirk have risen in concurrence.
Despite high house prices in this area, about 20 houses are owned by the famous Uncle Tony. Uncle Tony's houses can be recognised as each of his houses has a name. The few famous one are The Dude and Little Bill.
Dunkirk has its own Nursery and Primary School, a fire station (to be moved to Beeston soon), Spar shop and the Old Lenton and Dunkirk Community Centre.
Dunkirk also has a small industrial area, located along the Nottingham Canal. Nottingham Science and Business Park, with headquarters of a few companies, is located in Dunkirk as well.
There is a large cinema and entertainment centre just outside Dunkirk, on the other side of the Canal, adjacent to Clifton Boulevard.
